Taking your Golf Clubs
The free baggage allowance for most airlines, economy
class is 20kg and normally airlines will allow an extra
5kg. If you manage to fit your golf clubs within your
baggage allowance then there is no excess baggage charge
however golf clubs can be hired at all the Golf Clubs
included in our golf tours for an additional charge.
Handicap certificates
If you have one, it is advisable to bring with you however
it’s not mandatory with the Golf Clubs included
in our golf tours.
Visas
It is straight forward to obtain a tourist visa from
the Vietnamese Embassy in London by post (application
form and details can be supplied) and the service takes
about two weeks in total.
Insurance
All Vietnam Golf and Travel clients MUST
ensure they have adequate travel insurance cover and
we will require details of your insurance policy prior
to your date of travel.
Departure Tax
Your tour price includes Departure Tax from the UK however
there is an Overseas Airport Passenger Charge of approximately
£12 to pay when leaving Vietnam.
What
to wear
Vietnam has a temperature between 15°C and 38°C,
so smart casual is advisable and tailored shorts are
suitable for playing golf.
Climate
The South has two seasons: Wet and Dry
The North has four seasons spring, summer, autumn and
winter.
Customs
Visitors to Vietnam are required to fill in a standard
customs declaration in duplicate upon arrival. Customs
may inspect your luggage to verify that you have made
correct declaration.
Health
It is a good idea to consult a doctor one month to six
weeks before departing to check on any required immunizations.
Money Matters
Vietnam’s unit of currency is the dong (pronounced
dong) US$ & £ Sterling can be changed in banks
or hotels for the local currency.
Most hotels and city shops will accept credit cards
and ATM’s can be found in the major cities.
Security
In general, Vietnam is a very safe country for travel
and crimes against foreigners are very rare.
Business Hours
Offices and public services generally open early from
around 7.30am and close for lunch at around noon or
12.30pm, opening again around 1pm until 4.30pm Monday
to Saturday. Banks are open from 8.00am to 3pm Monday
to Friday and closed on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
Private shops are open from 8.30am until late in the
evening. Shop are generally open seven days a week.
Food markets generally close around 5pm.
Eating out
Vietnamese cuisine offers the visitor a wide variety
of fine dishes, delicately flavoured with
fresh herbs, spices and nuoc man (fish sauce), usually
accompanied by nuoc cham, a condiment sauce of nuoc
man, lime juice, a little grated carrot, chilli, garlic
and sugar.
Steamed rice (com) and soup are eaten at every meal.
Different regional specialities lend even more variety
to this varied menu.
Ask the locals for recommendations and they will be
very happy to initiate you into the discovery of Vietnam’s
delicious and unique cuisine.
Shopping
Traditional Vietnamese handicrafts offer a wide variety
of wares to choose from. Clothing is comparatively inexpensive
and local tailors can very quickly produce well-made
garments to the design of your choice.
